Transition Network Academy VISTA

The regional labour market in South Limburg faces major challenges due to the climate and energy transition, with a growing, structural labour market shortage in many technical sectors, a qualitative mismatch between existing and requested competences, a large upcoming demand for replacement and many uncertainties. With the support of the JTF, these challenges are addressed, by focusing on a raw material and energy transition to an energy-neutral, circular and green chemical economy. Based on a strategic exploration carried out in South Limburg in 2022, the project ‘VISTA Transition Network Academy’ was set up (in addition to other JTF rail-3 projects) with the aim of setting up a vocational training infrastructure in South Limburg that is tailored to the demand of the labour market and that is necessary to teach the necessary knowledge and skills to (future) employees of engineering companies who invest in the use of processes for green chemistry, green energy and circular raw materials, as well as to train these employees in the necessary transition skills. This is done in a network, partly at Chemelot and partly at other locations in South Limburg. In this project, a total of 9 MBO courses will be further developed and a series of training modules and training courses will be developed specifically for green chemistry (content curricula and necessary educational facilities). With this, a total of 540 current and future employees of the companies in green chemistry in South Limburg will be trained or retrained. In addition, an innovative MBO training methodology (CfD and CoP) for green chemistry and associated validation will be developed and 3 teacher professionalization modules will be developed and implemented for 130 teachers and practical trainers.
