A4 FutureProofTalentDevelopment

The regional labour market in South Limburg faces major challenges as a result of the climate and energy transition, with a growing, structural labour market shortage in many technical sectors, a qualitative mismatch between existing and requested competences, a large upcoming demand for replacement and many uncertainties. With the support of the JTF, these challenges are addressed, by focusing on a raw material and energy transition to an energy-neutral, circular and green chemical economy. In addition, the South Limburg region also has a disproportionately large number of people who are on the sidelines for a variety of reasons and do not actively participate in the labour market. The untapped potential of this region is huge. Based on a strategic market exploration in South Limburg carried out in 2022, the project ‘Future Proof Talent Development’ was set up (in addition to other JTF rail-3 projects) with the aim of enthusing, preparing and guiding people who do not yet participate or do not participate sufficiently in the labour market process to a job in green chemistry and sustainable SMEs in South Limburg. This project contributes significantly to an agile and resilient workforce in South Limburg. The project is part of the integrated JTF approach in South Limburg and focuses specifically on: • Realising a knowledge and information point on green chemistry as part of the Werkcentrum Zuid-Limburg (location in Sittard-Geleen) • Gaining insight (data) into the various target groups' untapped potential and drawing up and implementing a targeted mobility strategy for these target groups. • Schooling and guiding candidates to a job in green chemistry • Setting up a mbo-hbo alumni network aimed at enthusing potential candidates for green chemistry • Ensuring service after the end of the project by embedding in the Werkcentrum Zuid Limburg The intended result of the project is to enthuse 520 candidates from the untapped potential in South Limburg for and lead them to a job in green chemistry. To this end, a large number of activities from the project will be set up and embedded in the structural services of the Werkcentrum Zuid Limburg, which will be continued after the project period in order to continue to guarantee the future inflow into green chemistry from the untapped potential.
