TCP for Hydrogen

Offshore production of hydrogen contributes to the growing demand for green hydrogen. In addition, transporting hydrogen molecules is cheaper than transporting electricity via cables and hydrogen is better suited for long-term storage. Steel sea pipelines will be used for the large offshore hydrogen backbone. For smaller diameter branches, steel pipes are less suitable, as they are prone to hydrogen debris. Pipelines of the type Thermoplastic Composite Pipe (TCP) offer a solution for this. TCPs are insensitive to brittleness, flexible and rollable, making them easy to transport, install and remove. This project aims to get the TCP qualified for use with hydrogen, so that it can be used in offshore and onshore projects. Approximately 100 employees (from machine operators to engineers) are trained with different modules to be able to make the tube.
