Portable nanopore analyzer for proteins and peptides.

The proteome, the collection of all the proteins of an organism, largely determines the biological functioning of humans. For example, biomarkers in the proteome (proteins and peptides and biomolecules) contain important information about the health and well-being of organisms, in relation to aspects such as disease, medication, stress, sleep and nutrition. Therefore, proteomics, the study of the proteome, is intertwined with every aspect of the health sector, from basic research to diagnostics and drug development. For example, more than 90% of current medications are focused on our proteome, and an increasing number of medications are even proteins. To unlock the understanding and possibilities of the proteome and to characterize proteins, the project partners Portal Biotech, Gecco Biotech, Cortalix and the University of Groningen (RUG) are developing and validating a portable analysis device for proteins, peptides and biomolecules based on propriatorey nanopore technology. With this apparaa...
