KvW3-00006 Sustainability Warmtenet Poelgeest with Aquathermia (opening South Holland heat networks) In the district Poelgeest (Oegstgeest, Z-H) residents, united in energy cooperative Energiek Poelgeest, are looking for a way to heat their homes sustainably. The district was built between 1999 and 2009 as a nature-friendly eco-district with around 1,000 energy-efficient homes connected to a Vattenfall urban heating system. The residents, together with Vattenfall, have determined after research that it is possible to feed heat from the adjacent sewage treatment plant Leiden-Noord into the heating network and use it for heating of the district. For peak and back-up heat, Poelgeest's heat network remains connected to the Leiden network. Opportunities for West support this project.
