The entire project includes the transformation of 59 social rental homes, but this application concerns the circular renovation of 15 homes in Zaandam. This includes foundation restoration, a crucial aspect due to the age of the homes. Stones from the demolition of the 44 houses are also harvested to be placed again at the facade. Depending on availability, this is also applied to the renovation homes. Adding extra volume to these homes and implementing energetic improvements are not only aimed at preserving the historical value, but also at providing modern comfort and extending the lifespan of these homes for another 40 years. This allows them to serve as comfortable and contemporary rental homes, and again offers space for habitation.
