VCD Circular Zinc At more than 500 hot-dip galvanizing plants in Europe, the following waste streams are released that Circular Zinc wants to process. • Strip liquid contaminated with iron and heavy metals • Flux liquid is a solution of zinc chloride and ammonium chloride used in the hot dip galvanizing process. • Filter dust that is captured Strip liquid based on zinc chloride is a growing waste stream because galvanized steel is recycled more (including guide rails by Rijkswaterstaat). The project will turn this into new zinc derivatives. Filter dust is not processed in the EU and now goes to landfills leading to loss of raw materials. A new separation process will process this filter dust into a new flux liquid that can be returned to galvanizers to create a closed circle. The flux liquid becomes contaminated over time with heavy metals that need to be purified from it. After purification, these can also be returned to the galvanizing plants.share on FacebookTwitterLinkedinEmailreport an issue
