During this project, a reactor will be developed and validated in which verge grass can be processed into gas and electricity year-round. This is done through innovative fermentation processes in a closed, conditioned system. The challenge is to obtain total management of the biological process, allowing the innovative technology to be further refined and scaled up. This system is demonstrated on an industrial site and can be rolled out to residential areas, recreation and holiday parks. This can be seen as the development of a smart energy system at local level. It is socially very relevant because it makes an alternative energy source available (biogas) generated from the waste verge grass.
