The aim of the project 'Green hydrogen chain heavy equipment Kanaalzone Zeeuws-Vlaanderen' is to develop a chain for locally produced green hydrogen in Terneuzen. This hydrogen is taken by the project partners and local companies with heavy equipment, such as trucks, forklifts, construction equipment, excavators and ships. For these heavy-duty applications, electrification alone is not a good option and hydrogen is the only realistic, sustainable alternative. VoltH2 is building a hydrogen factory in Terneuzen, which will supply green hydrogen from 2026 onwards. This project aims to remove these two bottlenecks. With this project, the project partners take a pioneering role in the application of heavy equipment such as trucks, excavators, forklifts and hydrogen-powered vessels.
