The ERDF Op-Zuid project ‘Each E-truck Deserves a Load’ bypasses the grid restrictions with a smart and almost off-grid charging facility suitable for E-trucks. The project partners Green Caravan, Powercrumbs, Hedgehog Applications and A2 Truck Parking are developing a grid-independent charging facility that uses completely locally generated, fossil-free energy. The consortium will experiment with a solution consisting of a unique combination of solar energy with battery storage and a generator on local biogas. All components are connected to a unique DC microgrid and controlled via a smart energy management system (EMS). With this project, we realize a smart and net-independent charging station for E-trucks and demonstrate that fossil-free fast charging of E-trucks is also possible in areas with grid congestion. After completion of the project, the charging station was put into operation and demonstrated on a demonstration scale, where E-trucks can charge, 24 hours a day on 100% fossil-free electricity.
