The Netherlands is facing the challenge of water scarcity and climate change, with a growing need for smart water use. In the outskirts, where traditional sewage systems are lacking, Individual Wastewater Treatment (IBA) systems offer potential for decentralized water treatment and reuse. Through cross-sectoral cooperation throughout the entire water chain, a trend break occurs in which a new way of thinking contributes to the water and soil system. A system focused on circular water use in the countryside is being realized, from which industry, housing, households and agriculture can benefit. For a smart roll-out and demonstrations at Ecodorp Boekel, the consortium will be further expanded with Positive Impact Promotor. The project involves the development of a sensor set with advanced technology, including nanotechnology and MEMS, to measure various water parameters, such as COD, BOD and pH, with a minimal amount of sensors.
