Meuse bank: Sustainable vegetable processing Vegetable processor Maasoever is working on a sustainability project in collaboration with Top Cold and D2O. The aim is to reduce CO2 emissions and close raw material and water chains. The first step is to invest in a fermentation plant that produces biogas for steam boilers. The carbon footprint is reduced by 80%. Water will be recycled with reverse osmosis in the future, enabling 75% recovery and reducing groundwater abstraction. A heat pump cools the water back and reuses the heat at 90°C for heating processes. Sludge from the digester is then dried into a fertilizer, which contributes to circular agriculture. This project of more than 10 years is co-financed by the BOM and Rabobank. The first phase aims at an annual reduction of 1.25 million m3 of natural gas. The total project budget is €4.86 million, with a grant application of €1.7 million. This gives D2O and Top Cold a unique knowledge position as technology suppliers.share on FacebookTwitterLinkedinEmailreport an issue
