In this project, the partners want to develop and demonstrate a robot that can graft plant and tree species. The grafting of plant and tree species is a labour-intensive craft. It requires a lot of expertise within the nursery and cultivation sector. The expectation is that good professionals will become increasingly scarce in the next 10 to 20 years. In addition, grafting is not always profitable for certain plant and tree species due to a low survival rate after grafting. The partners in this project have worked together on a prototype graft robot that contributes to a higher number of grafted plants being viable and growing successfully after grafting. This requires extensive testing on a wide range of tree and plant species.
