There is a growing interest in natural insulation materials. At the moment there are already several types of natural insulation materials for sale, but these are not 100% bio-based. A fossil binder is used in these materials. A fully bio-based binder is the solution to achieve 100% natural insulation materials. Plantics has developed a proof of concept (TRL3) for a 100% bio-based binder. The first promising proof of concept tests have also been done with this bio-binder for making insulation materials. The resulting insulation materials are also expected to be recycled at the end of their technical life. The aim of this project is to further develop the production process of the bio-binder (TRL6). The bio-binder is also used in BIOISO to make 100% natural, circular insulation materials (TRL7) with similar properties to current insulation materials
