In order to achieve the goal of Sweden becoming one of the world's first fossil-free countries, technological innovations and access to labour with the right skills are required. In northern Sweden, major investments are being made in fossil-free steel production, with the effect that Swedish steel production could double by 2030 and have a clear northern shift. Industry's transformation work has begun, but its large-scale effects on the regional companies in Norra Mellansverige have already crystallized. The project's primary target group is innovative small and medium-sized companies in Northern Central Sweden that can contribute to a fossil-free and competitive steel industry. The project aims to increase the innovation power of these companies by identifying needs in the steel industry's climate roadmap, establishing innovation processes and opening up arenas for industrial implementation. The project will contribute to growth and exports through visibility and national and international collaboration.
