The project will upgrade the control equipment for a network component, HVDC-light. The HVDC-light facility consists of a buried cable between northern Visby and Näsudden on southern Gotland, it also consists of a network station at both ends and associated control equipment. This control equipment is just over 20 years old and needs to be replaced. The HVDC-light facility is of crucial importance for the Gotlander's power quality and contributes to the possibility of utilizing renewable electricity production from the southern part of Gotland to consumption in Visby and northern Gotland. An upgrade also enables the forthcoming renewal of the central electricity grid, which is also driven by Gotland's energy transition work, to be carried out with the least possible impact on the Gotlandic population. The goal is always that work and interventions in the Gotland electricity grid can be carried out with as little impact on the population as possible and in this HVDC-light is absolutely crucial for us to succeed in this in the energy transition.
