Achieving sustainable urban development requires a transition to create carefully designed and inclusive cities. This is highlighted in the challenges described in the National Programme. Health care and preventive health work are fundamental pieces of the puzzle in the social structure and greatly affect the urban structure. The health system of the future can be a strong contributor to sustainable urban development, for example through the design of the hospital environments of the future and their impact and physical context in the city. This requires a common approach to how the health systems of the future can be linked to regional spatial planning. It is about creating a common vision and a constellation of internal and external actors where you can together find new ways, collaborations and a common learning to increase innovation capacity linked to the health system of the future and to contribute to sustainable urban development.
