The goal of the project is to develop a local strategy for sustainable urban development, which will accelerate the transition in the Gothenburg region to a green, productive and equal metropolitan region. The strategy will define a number of innovative actions needed to meet the needs and help better manage the transition in the region. The strategy will be based on existing steering documents and agreements in the Gothenburg region and the City of Gothenburg, which already show that the municipalities want to take joint responsibility for long-term sustainable development throughout the region. Business, people, transport, natural resources and environmental impacts cross municipal borders and by addressing the challenges in a larger regional perspective, we can jointly and more quickly accelerate the pace of the transition. The city is the engine and driving force for the development of the metropolitan area, while the changes can be more powerful when the entire region is interconnected.
