This is a collaboration between the six largest cities in northern Sweden: Luleå, Skellefteå, Umeå, Örnsköldsvik, Sundsvall and Östersund. The aim is to create innovation capacity and leadership for the transition that is taking place in northern Sweden. By developing a joint local strategy for sustainable urban development, we create transformative capacity and regional synergies that enable the systemic change required for sustainable and climate-neutral cities and communities. The local strategy developed in the project will be based on external analysis and inventory of initiatives and barriers, including sustainable energy supply, transport systems and skills supply. The project will contribute to common priorities and increased impact of the transition efforts made in the region. This is done through increased coordination and synergies between the participating municipalities, which create a regional transition force for sustainable growth throughout northern Sweden.
