There is no doubt that digital technology is one of the strongest transformative forces in today's society. Digital technology is changing the way individuals live their lives, how companies shape business models, and how societies are restructured. The benefits of technology have spurred small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to seek improved business models and innovative services in order to strengthen their competitiveness. However, succeeding in this endeavor is not always straightforward. International research and a feasibility study funded by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth show that there is a need for local collaborative arenas that take into account the special needs of SMEs in terms of innovation and skills supply in the tech area. The need has led to the objectives of the project: to establish two locally adapted tech arenas in West Sweden, such as: - boosts innovation and research capacity for SMEs - encourages lifelong learning among company employees - creates sustainable digital solutions
