Low clinker cement

The project addresses the climate change challenge facing the cement industry. The challenge is related to high CO2 emissions and negative environmental and social impacts. The project's goal is to find alternatives to limestone sources for raw materials, modify and optimize the existing clinker process to significantly lower the CO2 footprint, meet the limestone demand, improve sustainability and mitigate the negative environmental impact. The main target group is the cement industry, but it also includes other groups affected by the use of cement, i.e. the construction industry, the mining industry and local communities, where cement factories and mines are located. The project will mainly be carried out at Luleå University of Technology in collaboration with representatives from important target groups. Activities include theoretical model, experimental testing and sustainability analysis.
