In a pre-study, Information-driven care, the project in one of the work packages has investigated how and why SMEs want access to health data. Companies see major business benefits, such as greater opportunities for pharmaceutical companies to monitor drug use based on real-world data. The stated needs of the companies are presented in full in Annex 1. To meet the companies' need for access to health data, work needs to be done within RÖL to master data plan, information model, investigation of data storage type, precision of information sets and the creation of processes for data extraction for companies and researchers. Today, data extraction is done with manual handling that is very time consuming and the device that makes data extraction has a backlog of several years. At the same time as the data is made available, we will work to clarify the legal framework for the use of the data. This work is done by RÖL together with several other regions and an external lawyer.
