CO2Crete - Co-utilizing CO2 with mining, metallurgical, and construction wastes for concrete production: Flipping environmental catastrophe to massive opportunities.

In order to reduce total carbon dioxide emissions, Sweden needs advanced technical solutions to capture carbon dioxide from various industries. The cement industry plans to build a carbon capture facility to capture and later transport and store its emissions under the seabed. 1.8 million tons of CO2 will be captured. The question is whether all carbon dioxide is needed to be transported and stored under the bottom of the sea? Can parts or the entire volume be used in other applications? This project proposal focuses on the development of an appropriate technical infrastructure and methodology to evaluate the real potential for CO2 storage in mineral residues from the mining, metal and construction industries and in alkali-containing products. The goal is to produce a list of potential carbon sinks on land and also investigate if the capture in mineral materials can create finished products, The goal is to help small and large companies to make the right decisions for investments.
