Region Skåne, in broad collaboration with representatives from academia, industry and the public sector, wants to carry out a development project on solar farming - the combination of solar power production and agriculture. Within the project, we will investigate the conditions and opportunities for solar use in Skåne. The goal is to demonstrate, create and disseminate knowledge to business-promoting actors and, by extension, companies in both the energy and food industries about how the conflict of interest between the production of food and solar power on Skåne's agricultural land can be managed. The starting point is that both electricity and food can be produced on the same surface, which at the same time promotes the profitability of food production. In addition to conducting advanced simulations and analyses of regulations and business models that affect the upscaling of solar farms, the project will design a test facility to in practice investigate and demonstrate how agriculture and solar power production can be effectively combined on the same land based on Scanian conditions.
