Collaboration Biogas Norrbotten Production of biogas that is upgraded to biomethane (vehicle gas) currently takes place in parallel plants in Luleå and Boden. The plants receive sorted digestible waste from a number of municipalities spread throughout Norrbotten (and also parts of northern Norway and potentially northern Finland). The plants operate separately but have the same catchment area for parts of the substrate needed for production. The current picture is that the need for biomethane for vehicle transport in the region exceeds the currently available amount of substrate. Both plants are investigating possibilities for additional substrates for increased production and thus better production economy. There is an obvious risk of competition when the most sustainable is to look at the plants as a common entity. Through the project, we want to highlight opportunities for increased collaboration and a more resource-efficient use of the facilities, which will benefit all municipalities that supply substrates.share on FacebookTwitterLinkedinEmailreport an issue
