In Östra Mellansverige, five regions work together to promote smart, sustainable innovation and growth. Smart specialisation and roadmaps, linked to EU Regional Fund programmes and policy objectives, provide important orientations and actions for the future of the region. The project is based on Smart Specialisation and Partnership for Innovation (PRI), with a focus on economic, social and environmental sustainability. Through mission-driven work methodology, the project aims to identify missions and mobilize for regional power gatherings. Regions play a crucial role in breaking silos, mobilising resources and fostering cooperation. Organisational learning and dialogue with authorities are key to strengthening regional leadership in smart specialisation and PRI. Cooperation with the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth, Vinnova and the Swedish Energy Agency helps to find synergies between different funds and programmes, as well as close dialogue with the regions' Brussels offices ensures that innovation issues are taken into account at EU level.
