In order to implement their regional smart specialisation strategies, the four regions of Småland and the islands work together to promote innovation for SMEs throughout the programme area. The project builds on a joint analysis that has identified five thematic areas of knowledge that cover the majority of the areas identified in the county strategy work: Wood and forest, Food, Hospitality, Industrial development and Digital service development. The project develops a platform for collaboration in the five areas and is open to all publicly funded innovation support actors in the four counties. Collaboration creates strengthened conditions for innovation-enhancing development efforts with different principals, funding and duration with the common characteristic of being open to all SMEs in the programme area. By collaborating across the programme area, the conditions are created for implementing sharper development initiatives involving a larger number of companies.
