Circular Biomass 3.0 (CirBio3.0)

Sweden is dependent on importing fertiliser, feed and food, while energy production must be adapted to new requirements and a need to phase out non-renewable fuels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Mid Sweden University's projects are based on the future industrialisation of Norrland in the areas of clean environment and sustainable local food and energy production and clearly link to the regions' RUSs and Smart Specialisation. The project is supported by municipalities, Lst and SMEs in the region and strengthens Mid Sweden University's research, innovation and verification of processes, which prepares for local industrial production with sustainable processes and products so that climate-impacting activities and emissions can be reduced or stopped. The project is based on cheap, by industry and society, unwanted biomass that is refined into modern sustainable energy, metals, ingredients in food and feed by using yeast, fungi, algae, bacteria and toxic materials purified from organic toxins such as PAH, PFAS, PCB and heavy metals.
