Coexistence for more seafood

The project will build capacity for innovation in large-scale production and food management in coexistence. The goal is to create growth, jobs and transition in coastal municipalities by strengthening innovation nodes and value chains. Coexistence between renewable energy production and food production enables sustainable development and increased food self-sufficiency in Sweden. Through co-location, several benefits can be achieved in terms of economy, spatial planning and environmental impact. However, technical and practical obstacles need to be overcome. Municipal examples in Lysekil and Falkenberg are investigated to understand the challenges and opportunities of coexistence for food production. Through knowledge initiatives and collaboration between municipalities and regions in Västra Götaland and Halland, the project can strengthen the blue bioeconomy and position West Sweden as a leading region in the area. The goal is to create a common basis for innovation and ensure the entire value chain from the sea and on land.
