Outcome

Young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs) are an untapped resource needed in society. Norrbotten needs 51,000 jobs by 2030. The regional action plan for ESF+ Upper Norrland 2021-2027 describes that there are major skills supply challenges in the region, partly due to demographic developments where the number of older people is increasing sharply, while the proportion of the working-age population is decreasing, which means that fewer people will support more people. Sunderby Folk High School and Kalix Folk High School, together with Boden Municipality and Kalix Municipality, want to find common ways of working with young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs). Together we will work with the entire chain from outreach to phasing out. We will gather our expertise and experience and share it with each other. We will also build new partnerships to find ways for the young. The aim of the project is to create a model for how folk high schools, in collaboration with municipalities, can work to bring young people who are not in employment, education or training (NEETs) closer to the labour market. The project will investigate different models for collaboration around the target group and in particular investigate whether IOP (idea-based public partnership) can be a viable way to formalize collaboration in the future provided we find a good working model.
