Strengthened nursing competence in Functional Support

Area Functional Support within the Social Services has identified more than 270 individuals who, through further training as assistant nurses, would strengthen their role in the labour market. An educational effort on the group would also help to reduce the skills shortage that exists in terms of assistant nurses in the municipality and the region as a whole and help to improve the support given to users within Functional Support. The project will be conducted by Area Functional Support in the Social Services Administration and Adult Education in the Upper Secondary School and Labour Market Administration. The project aims to identify the target group's prerequisites and driving forces at the individual level, offering further education to the assistant nurse according to either an education over two semesters or a fast track in one semester (validation). The project aims to offer 100 training places spread over the period September 2024 to December 2026. The number of students undergoing the training depends on the outcome of the individual training mapping, but the project is expected to result in 60-80 trained assistant nurses. The project also has the ambition to follow the employee after completion of the training in order to provide as good opportunities as possible for the individual to also get new tasks and responsibilities in relation to their new training at the workplace after completion of the training. The project and co-financing are well anchored in the parts of the organization involved. The project has developed a process that during the project will be repeated term by term to follow the participants and gradually improve and develop working methods over time. The long-term ambition is for the project to have such positive effects at completion that decision-makers consider it so important that it becomes an integral part of the business.
