EmpowermentArenan Dalarna

In the project "Egenmaktsarenan Dalarna", the Falun Borlänge region together with the partners Region Dalarna/Fornby Folkhögskola and the municipalities Borlänge, Falun, Ludvika, Leksand (in cooperation with Rättvik) will work with individuals who are unemployed, receive income support and who the Public Employment Service does not reach with their efforts. The goal is for individuals to move closer to work or study and self-sufficiency. The target group is multifaceted, with low-skilled and foreign-born women in the majority. There are many reasons why they are in the situation they are in. Long-term assistance increases the risk of exclusion and ill-health and reduces the chance of integration into the labour and housing market, which has negative consequences for both the individual and society. Lack of cooperation between authorities makes the individual's situation even more difficult. We strive to reduce exclusion and support the individual to find a long-term sustainable situation for their own livelihood. Based on previous experiences and projects both in-house and by others, we have seen that the target group is in need of close and continuous mentor support, along with parallel efforts. These interventions are determined together with the individual based on their needs and conditions, examples of interventions can be language teaching, practice and lifestyle to name a few. The work will be done both individually and in groups. The methods BIP and Matching from Day 1 shall be tested as methods for supervisor support. Tested methods and methods of language teaching for those who have not made progression at SFI will be further developed and offered to a larger target group. Both the municipalities and the region have financial challenges and thus limited resources to work preventively, to be able to offer flexible personalised interventions, etc. Failure to develop cost-effective forms of collaboration risks exacerbating the problems. Therefore, the project will also work on developing cooperation structures between the partners and other actors to optimize the opportunity to provide the individual with the right support to make step-shifting. By applying an individual-centred approach, and integrating gender equality, accessibility and non-discrimination into all parts of the project, the project aims to offer support that meets each participant's unique needs. Through the exchange of experience and the development of collaborative structures, the project will optimise efforts and thereby strengthen individuals' opportunities for step-change towards the labour market and their own livelihood. At the same time, it emphasises the importance of accessibility, inclusion and respect for the needs and rights of individuals throughout the process. The project will work to integrate developed methods and collaborations that are implemented with existing working methods and collaborations to ensure long-term sustainability and efficiency. The goal for the individuals is for all participants to have made a step change closer to the labour market, experience stronger empowerment and better health. The goal of the partners is that new methods and working methods have been implemented and disseminated to the organizations' regular activities. And that a long-term sustainable structure for collaboration and cooperation has been established between administrations, between municipalities and between municipalities and the Region.
