In Skellefteå and the region of Upper Norrland, there is currently no functioning collaboration platform that brings together several different higher education institutions that, together with industry, develop tools and methods for lifelong learning, which in practice enable large-scale skills transformation. The solution to Skellefteå's higher education challenges has been to work for a new model in the academic landscape, Skellefteå Universities Alliance, SUA. For 1 year, we have worked, with our own resources, to create an alliance of national and international apprenticeships that work together to meet the urgent need for higher education in one place. Now we need to take SUA from concept and idea to operational activities, and develop structure and forms for the continued work. In the project, we will largely use various tools that help to create participation and consensus on the activities to be done among the project's actors. The main form of this is workshops, seminars and meetings where democratic methods are used to move the process forward, and which contribute to learning. In addition, we will continue to use existing digital tools and digital communication to create engagement and participation, in a sustainable way, and that greatly reduces challenges in the great geographical distances, regionally and nationally. The project's goal is to increase capacity to handle the skills supply challenge via a functioning collaboration platform that brings together different universities and industry, which together further developed and investigated tools, working methods and methods for lifelong learning. The target group for the project is local business with representatives, higher education institutions and the project owner.
