Remake Textile

The overall aim of the project is to develop innovative solutions for managing the increasing amount of textile waste that municipalities will be responsible for from 2025 onwards. At the same time, the focus is on skills development and recycling training for the long-term unemployed between the ages of 21 and 59, with good language skills in English or Swedish. Through collaboration with various partners, the project aims to increase the workforce in the textile industry and municipalities, while supporting cooperative and non-profit organizations in circular textile activities. The project is divided into seven main categories ranging from the establishment of a steering group and the recruitment of participants to education, training and dissemination activities. A central part is to activate participants far from the labour market through various group activities and intensive courses. Through cooperation with universities, cooperatives and non-profit organisations, it is also planned to support and develop skills in circular activities in the textile field. The project also includes design students from the Swedish School of Textiles in Borås to create suitable workwear and promote a positive group dynamic among the project participants. Recruitment of participants takes place gradually to adapt the content to the experiences of previous groups and to increase the chances of employment for participants. Circular innovation is at the heart of the project, which explores ways to reduce, reuse and recycle textile waste in view of the planned EU rules for 2025. The project also strives for social inclusion by offering meaningful tasks for the long-term unemployed and conducting intensive courses to make them employable. The result of the project is expected to be a sustainable circular business model or process for textile recycling, which can serve as a model for the entire industry. The goal is to create a solution that both promotes sustainability in the textile industry and increases opportunities for those who have previously been unemployed and economically vulnerable. At the same time, the project will develop a solution that the municipalities will be informed about and have the opportunity to use during and after the project period. The final report of the project not only aims to be a paper product but to be the start of something larger and sustainable, where Doing Good aims to become a permanent player in the circular textile sector.
