Preliminary study of the skills supply of the future

The good labour market in Upper Norrland, with several large industrial establishments in our neighbouring municipalities Boden and Skellefteå as well as a low proportion of unemployed, affects the recruitment of staff to the care sector. Many choose other career paths that are considered more attractive. Fewer students than ever now choose the health and social care program in upper secondary school, which reduces the basis for recruiting people who have adequate education to provide good care and the quality required. To cope with the skills supply of the future, businesses need to recruit new employees and invest in the skills of existing staff to create the conditions for wanting to remain in the profession. Piteå municipality is no longer able to carry out physical training initiatives for basic staff due to a lack of replacement staff that can replace permanent staff and needs to investigate good alternatives to physical training. Piteå municipality needs to equip itself to cope with the future's continued challenges regarding recruitment and skills supply. The purpose of the preliminary study Future Skills Supply is to investigate and map the needs of the target group and take stock of their ideas on how we can reduce the skills challenges we face since the efforts will primarily be directed directly at the target group's individuals. The aim of the preliminary study Future Skills Supply is to identify the needs for changed working methods and the need for skills supply and to find one or more methods that are relevant based on the problem analysis and justify why the method(s) have been chosen and how they relate to the perspectives of gender equality, accessibility and non-discrimination.
