Fast Care for Ukraine

The Fast Care for Ukraine project will continue to work with Ukrainian refugees in Eskilstuna under the Mass Refuge Directive. The integration and reception unit within Eskilstuna municipality will collaborate in the project together with Sisters in Business and the Eskilstuna Business Centre. The project aims to help 60 participants, 7 men and 53 women. The effects of the project are expected to be sustainable employment among the target group as well as increased opportunities to be a part of Swedish society and be able to contribute to Swedish society and an improved health condition. The project will create sustainable efforts to strengthen the participants' position in the labour market and move to work or move closer to the labour market and become more socially involved. The project will work to ensure that Ukrainian women, men and young people receive appropriate and individual efforts to get into employment and social inclusion more quickly. Through the project's work, 25% of the participants will reach their own livelihood, 100% of the participants will have a linguistic progression and an increased mental health in this way will strengthen the individual's socio-economic position. The participants will get an increased knowledge of what it means to be employed and be able to handle, for example, care of sick children, holiday rules, work environment, discrimination law, collective agreements and sick pay. Participants become more involved in society through sports, associations, culture and other activities for themselves and for their children. They will develop the ability to lead themselves towards new goals in Sweden, i.e. to become more self-sufficient in looking for work, taking care of their health, taking the initiative to make contacts and to seek information. All activities in the project work for the target group to gain more knowledge about Swedish society, increase their language level, improve their health. Even before Russia’s invasion, Ukraine faced major challenges in terms of gender equality and women’s rights. The background to this is in patriarchal attitudes and stereotypes where women should be at home managing the household and taking care of the children. Women in Ukraine are underrepresented in both politics and business. The aim of the project is to increase the participants' understanding of how to establish Swedish norms and thereby increase female leadership. The project will engage women to work this through study visits and work preparation efforts as an internship in perceived male-dominated professions such as the industry at Volvo, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and craft professions, among others. Discrimination against ethnic minorities occurs in Ukraine and there is a negative view of LGBTQI people. The project aims to reduce discrimination among participants and the negative view of LGBTQI people and will work with the approach that all people are equal. The project will lead to a well-functioning model for how the Integration and Reception Unit will work with the target group unemployed foreign-born individuals where there is a risk of passivation and mental illness. The project will develop methods for a more coordinated and effective integration work in Eskilstuna municipality's organizations. The project will also develop good relationships with private employers in Eskilstuna and within Eskilstuna municipality to create a more inclusive and innovative labour market in Eskilstuna. This will be done through continuous company meetings such as workshops and recruitment fairs where companies that have hired Ukrainians have worked to lower the thresholds for a more inclusive labour market. The project will strengthen the target group's position on the labour market that provides sustainable and economic profitability for the individual and society. Good results can lead to regional/national dissemination where other municipalities and regions can learn from the project's work. The project will work actively with matching interventions such as guidance, job coaching and advice by trained counsellors and behavioural scientists who have knowledge of the target group for the assessment of skills and professional skills. It is of great importance that the right participants find suitable employers and tasks for sustainable employment. Joint activities between participants and co-workers will increase understanding of participants and their needs. The participants are mapped by the guides in order for the project to get a good basis and analysis of the participants' individual needs. Study visits to employers, non-profit organisations, associations to both increase the participants' networks and create new contacts that can increase the conditions for social participation in society and also the opportunities to get into employment and become self-sufficient. Health promotion measures such as individual and group discussions about the participants' well-b
