Fast Care of Education

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Sweden has been hosting refugees from Ukraine in accordance with the EU's Mass Refuge Directive. These have been granted work permits, but many have, despite some good conditions for successful integration, found it difficult to enter the labour market or into society. Many people see themselves as isolated and undirected. This has also had the consequence that some have returned to Ukraine with the risks it entails. Swedish society also suffers from refugees not gaining a foothold – in recent years, the various social consequences of a lack of integration have been highlighted in several different contexts. There are several reasons for this problem, both in terms of structural challenges, which this project cannot affect, and individual conditions. This project focuses on strengthening the participants' individual opportunities to enter the labour market and participate in society. The main reasons that affect refugees' ability to enter society are: 1.The newly arrived's weaknesses in the Swedish language combined with high demands on knowledge of Swedish in the labour market. 2. Ignorance among new arrivals about the cultural context of the Swedish labour market. Swedish workplace culture is crucial for successful integration. 3. Lack of relevant networks, which limits the opportunities for new arrivals to work. Personal networks often provide access to information about job vacancies and job opportunities that may not be publicly available. 4. Differences in education and training systems and professional standards can make it difficult for employers to assess whether foreign skills are relevant and sufficient to perform the work. Discrimination by employers is also an aggravating factor. Based on this problem, we intend with this project to strengthen the position of Ukrainian refugees in the labour market and help to give them a clearer anchor in society. The overall goal of the project is that 1,500 women and men covered by the EU's Mass Refuge Directive can take part in efforts to strengthen their position on the labour market and move to work or move closer to the labour market by getting the conditions to look for work and become socially involved. This overall objective is divided into four sub-objectives: 1.Clarifying competences and experiences, but also possible obstacles to the inclusion of women and men in the EU: The directive should be able to strengthen its position on the labour market and move to work or education or move closer to the labour market. 2.The participation of women and men covered by the EU's Mass Refuge Directive in individually tailored labour market-oriented activities to strengthen their position in the labour market and transition to work. 3.The participation of women and men covered by the EU's Mass Refuge Directive in individually adapted language-developing activities to strengthen their position in the labour market and transition to work or move closer to the labour market. 4.The participation of women and men covered by the EU's Mass Refuge Directive in individually tailored social interventions to strengthen their social inclusion. The project objectives are achieved through a number of different activities linked to each sub-objective. These can vary based on the needs, knowledge and wishes of different groups. A key part of public education's work on these issues is personalisation. The activities are organised and carried out by participating study associations and folk high schools. The following are the four main activities linked to each milestone: The mapping shall result in an individual activity plan that describes which activities within the framework of the project are relevant for the participant to reach their goal. The aim of labour market measures is to strengthen the individual's position on and contact with the labour market. Activities in the field of labour market interventions are planned based on the needs of the participant. Language development activities are intended to help the individual develop his or her language skills and thereby strengthen contact with both the labour market and society. Sub-activities in the field of language teaching are planned based on the participant's needs. Social inclusion (Subjective 4) Gives the individual an opportunity to enter society and better understand the Swedish cultural context. In addition, the measures can help to combat mental illness and isolation by engaging the individual and creating social inclusion. Sub-activities in the field of social inclusion are planned based on the needs of the participant
