Unemployment and exclusion among foreign-born women with a short educational background have increased in recent years. As we now face another recession after the pandemic, this group risks being hit further. At the individual level, the reasons for the lack of entry into the labour market for the target group include short educational background, language barriers, lack of networks, difficulties in contact with authorities and ill health. At the societal and organizational level, it is about the lack of simple jobs, widespread discrimination and a lack of overall responsibility and collaboration around the target group at the individual level. The consequences of the problem are great both at the individual and community level. The overall aim of the Women's Establishment project is to bring foreign-born women with a short educational background who have no establishment in the Swedish labour market or who have a long-term exclusion closer to work and studies. The project will contribute to a strengthened collaboration between the project owner, the City of Stockholm and the Public Employment Service around the target group and, together with civil society and industry, identify and develop efforts for the target group. Participants in the project will be assigned from Arbetsförmedlingen and the city or reached through the project's outreach activities. Initially, all participants will receive an assessment, planning and activation for continued efforts aimed at work or study. Throughout the project, all participants will be offered a personal continuous support in their native language to facilitate government contacts and navigate towards the goal of a job or study.
