EGOS 2.0

Eskilstuna municipality has 7 resource units at upper secondary level for students who for various reasons are unable to attend a regular school class. Since 1 January 2021, these resource units, with a total of approximately 110 pupils, have been organised during Rinmansgymnasiet, collectively known as Rinman 3. These are students who, due to neuropsychiatric disabilities, social problems and other things, have extra difficulty coping with schooling and life in general, which means that they are at great risk of ending up in various types of lifelong exclusion. From the school's side, it can be seen that the girls are at risk of ending up in couples where they are exposed to violence and oppression, while the boys are at risk of becoming home-seaters or developing crime and drug abuse. The purpose of the project is to support the young people at times when the participants are not in the classroom and through this ensure that the young people get order in school and life in general. Quote from one of the students at Rinman 3. We're in school four hours out of the 24 hours of the day, so our life takes place mostly outside of school. We need support in making the remaining time meaningful and moving forward." The content of the project has been developed in collaboration with Police and Social Services. The students at Rinman 3 have also participated in the application process. Young people have had to like what support and what activities they need to succeed with schooling and life in general. The project will work on the basis of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Equal Value of All Children (Article 2), the best interests of the child in the first place (Article 3), the right to life and development (Article 6) and respect for the views of the child (Article 12). This means actively working norm-consciously to counter inequality and inequality between different target groups. All students at Rinman 3 should be included in the project and have the opportunity to participate and influence the content. This is regardless of the participants' gender, sexual orientation, age, religion/belief, gender identity, disability, skin colour/ethnicity, social group/background or body shape. The project will have a coordinating purpose, where the work to support the young people also contributes to building an improved and sustainable cooperation between the authorities and organizations involved in the young people's lives. The project will also develop a formalised whistleblowing function. A function that alerts municipal management and partners when system failures that have a negative impact on the project participants are detected. Combating violence and gang-related crime is the most important task of the project. This is because Eskilstuna is one of the country's most vulnerable municipalities when it comes to gang crime with elements of deadly violence. A very dangerous social development with ramifications against Rinman 3 who has had students who have been both victims and perpetrators of deadly attacks. Crucial to whether a young person should develop a criminal lifestyle is the relationship of strength between risk factors and protective factors. For the project, it is about providing as many and effective protective factors as possible, in collaboration with Social Services, Police, parents, BUP, recreation centres and associations, so that the project participants choose away from the criminal gangs. The protective factors the project has to give to the participants are: • Good and emotional contact and guidance by safe adults who help young people and catch them when they feel bad. • Support for effective schooling • Support for parents who have difficulties coping with parenthood • Possibility of work and own income via ferieptik during all holidays. • Support from the project to create meaningful leisure time. • Close cooperation with parents, police and social services gives early signals if any of the project's participants are at risk of being taken up by criminal gangs. • LFT (Leadership Training for Teenage Parents) course for the parents of the participants who need help managing parenthood • Quick action in cooperation with parents, police and social services when the project receives signals that one of the participants in the project has ended up in the criminal risk zone.
