In order to meet current and future needs for skills in the wake of the green transition in industry, adult education in Southern Norrbotten and the Association of Local Authorities of Lapland needs to sharpen existing collaboration and ability to meet the needs of the industry. Experience in providing industrial training is limited. New training schemes are being challenged by feared high costs and difficulties in finding teaching staff. It is uncertain what is most effective, to procure education or offer in-house, which this preliminary study should provide answers to. The preliminary study will also show whether validation can be a complement to training efforts to provide the industry with competent personnel more quickly. The county is sparsely populated, therefore distance solutions should also be investigated. The preliminary study also wants to ensure that the adult education Södra Norrbotten offers courses that attract both men and women, from the rest of Sweden as well as internationally. This requires coordination with other actors promoting skills attraction.
