Värmland School Collaboration

Carrying out their studies in adolescence and choosing and completing an upper secondary education that is in demand by the labour market is an important part of not risking long-term unemployment. Early school-leaving measures will reduce social costs. Education and level of education are an important prerequisite for regional attractiveness, development and growth. In the project "Värmland School Collaboration", schools, social services and leisure in nine municipalities in Värmland collaborate: Eda, Filipstad, Grums, Karlstad, Kil, Kristinehamn, Säffle and Årjäng. The target group of the project is young people aged 13-16. The project's goal is for more students to complete compulsory school with upper secondary school qualifications and for more students to make a conscious choice of upper secondary school education that leads to further studies or work. Another goal of the project is to improve collaboration between schools, social services, leisure time, Region Värmland and other collaboration actors that are important for promotion, prevention and action based on a holistic perspective of young people's needs. Efforts in the project include in-depth mapping as a basis for individual support for young people who have or are at risk of problematic school absences. Other interventions include out-of-school activities such as internships, physical activity or cultural activities. The project will also develop health and protective factors in the physical and mental school environment. Study and career guidance from a norm-critical perspective and working with systems and follow-up of absences for early detection are other efforts in the project. The project's efforts take place in collaboration between youth, guardians, schools, social services and leisure time.
