A high proportion of children and young people aged 6-17 in Stockholm city's particularly vulnerable areas Husby, Rinkeby and Tensta, have a low participation in structured, adult-led leisure activities. These children are at risk for increased physical and mental ill-health, for various forms of social problems, to be socialized into crime and a long-term future exclusion. The districts are rich in diversity, but also have major challenges with segregation and differences in health and other living conditions. The majority of the population in the districts have a foreign background. Several factors interact and contribute to low participation in structured, adult-led extracurricular activities after the end of the school day. These are economic factors, lack of knowledge about the importance of active leisure time, lack of information about supply, unavailability of activities and lack of trust in authorities or living in an honorary context. Active leisure time can contribute to positive health development. Participation and meaningful relationships with adults outside the family can also act as protective during adolescence. Leisure activities can also be positive for children and young people's identity development, self-esteem, social skills and problem-solving skills. Project Järva Resource Leisure shall, in cooperation with the other public sector and civil society, in order to promote accessibility to and increase the target group's participation in structured, adult-led leisure activities after the end of the school day. Through its activities, the project will contribute to meaningful leisure time and safe schooling, increased social community, improved mental and physical health of children and young people in Husby, Rinkeby and Tensta. The project will also help reduce the number of early school leavers and reduce the risk of socialization into crime among children and young people in Tensta, Husby and Rinkeby. The project's goal is to strengthen children's leisure time and social community and contribute to improved opportunities to pass school. The target group is girls and boys, non-binary and people with trans experience aged 6-17 living in Husby, Rinkeby and Tensta who lack structured adult-led leisure activities. The target group has different conditions and needs depending on gender, gender identity, age, background (family relationships, children who are native-born or foreign-born and/or have foreign-born parents) and disabilities. The project will pay particular attention to reaching out to girls and increasing their participation in structured adult-led leisure activities. The project will take into account and pay attention to all grounds of discrimination in all decisions taken. Järva resource leisure should work on the following things to increase children's participation in meaningful leisure activities. 1. Coordination and collaboration with relevant partners that offer children and young people structured adult-led leisure activities and/or meet children and young people. 2. Age- and needs-appropriate information and advice for the target group children, young people and their guardians/parents. 3. Age- and needs-appropriate support for children, young people and their guardians, as well as pilotage to activities that offer structured adult-led leisure activities.
