The problem description is based on two major challenges highlighted by representatives in the Gothenburg region's special education network - the transition between adapted compulsory school and adapted upper secondary school and the transitions between adapted upper secondary school's national programme and working life. When it comes to the transition between adapted primary school and adapted secondary school, it is very much a question of students not having been given the tools to make informed study and career choices, and when it comes to the transition between adapted primary school national programmes and working life, it is very much a question of there being few pupils who get employment after finishing their education. This is also reflected in statistics showing that persons with disabilities have a lower employment rate than the rest of the population. Despite the importance of well-founded study and career choices to create the conditions for completed studies and ultimately an establishment in the labour market, study and career guidance does not have the impact and scope in teaching that the legislator intended. Prao and apl are seen as important tools in preparing young people for future study and career choices and for the future working life, but teachers experience the acquisition of places as extremely challenging and time consuming. The consequences are that many individuals instead end up in daily activities, despite the fact that the national programmes within adapted upper secondary school have a clear professional focus. Alternatively, many young people are excluded from the labour market. Challenges highlighted in the problem formulation have emerged at both regional and national level and would therefore benefit from taking a greater approach to the issue. The project "Strengthening conditions for young people with IF" works to ensure that young people with intellectual disabilities have strengthened opportunities to establish themselves in working life. Through the project, SPSM, schools, working life and other important actors work together to find new ways of working and methods that will contribute to a more inclusive labour market and easier transitions from school to working life for the target group's young people. Furthermore, the project wants to share experiences, find new ways and spread knowledge throughout the country.
