The subject of the project is the sewerage of tourist traffic in protected areas through the construction of a 2986 m bicycle route on the Kędzie - Barkowo route, along the district road No. 1323D. 78% of the length of the trail is within the boundaries of the Natura 2000 protected area ‘Ostoja nad Barycza’PLH020041 and the ‘Dolina Baryczy’ Landscape Park, which partly overlap. As part of the project, a rainwater drainage system and trail marking will be made. The main objective of the project is to reduce anthropopressure by channelling tourist traffic in the above-mentioned protected areas within the Żmigród Commune. The planned route will contribute to the reduction of vehicular traffic in places not intended for this purpose, including, inter alia, uncontrolled penetration of ‘wild paths’ within natural habitats and habitats of species subject to protection of the Natura 2000 site and the Landscape Park. The need to implement the project results from the need to protect the natural environment, protect and display the natural and landscape values of the site, as well as the need to organize tourist traffic in the above-mentioned areas. In the longer term, the project will contribute to the following benefits: ENVIRONMENTAL: protection of areas of natural value: Natura 2000 and the Landscape Park; reducing emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere; improving air quality and the health of residents; improving the attractiveness of the areas covered by the project. ECONOMIC: creating a safe infrastructure for cycling tourism; improving the accessibility of places of natural value and attractive tourist destinations; increasing the tourist attractiveness of the municipality; development of tourism and local businesses (tourism, catering, etc.). SOCIAL: improving the safety of cyclists; social activation in contact with nature; inclusion of different social and age groups (children, seniors, persons with disabilities); activation and social inclusion; mobility of residents. The actions identified, their objectives and effects are consistent and consistent with the objectives of the FEDS 2021-2027, i.e. the specific objective of the ERDF.CP.2.VII – Strengthening the protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, including in urban areas, and reducing all types of pollution. The project will result in the protection of nature and biodiversity through the development of tourist traffic in protected areas and in their immediate vicinity. The route under construction, at a distance of 2,320 m, runs through Natura 2000 sites and the Landscape Park, and at a distance of 666 m outside protected areas. Direct support concerns protected areas and the social sphere, by enabling the use of the built cycling infrastructure by tourists and the local community. Indirect support covers the economic sphere by, among others, increasing the tourist attractiveness of the municipality. As a result of the project, a public and open tourist cycling infrastructure will be created, which will not generate any profit. The route being built is a stage, a part of a large project entitled ‘Construction of bicycle paths in the south-western part of the municipality of Żmigród’. The built trail will be marked with signs that will ensure safe and peaceful travel for every tourist of any level of skill and experience and at any time of the year, in all weather conditions. The municipality has the project documentation and the necessary administrative decisions as well as the opinions from the RDOŚ, the Landscape Park and the IRT required under the call. The applicant, investor and beneficiary of the project is JST Gmina Żmigród, which will be responsible for the project at all stages of its implementation. It will also be an infrastructure operator. There are no implementing partners or entities in the project. The beneficiary will carry out information and promotion activities in accordance with the guidelines FEDS2021-2027 (information board, information on the applicant’s website, marking of documents related to the implementation of the project)
