A coherent network of cycling routes in Wrocław for the inhabitants of the city and agglomeration, including the construction of accompanying infrastructure – stage I

SUBJECT OF THE PROJECT The subject of the Project is the construction of new and modernization of existing roads for bicycles in the Commune of Wrocław (Lat. 6.43 km), located within the WrOF ITI in order to support sustainable multimodal urban mobility as part of the transition towards a zero-emission economy and ensure transport continuity in the intra-urban layout of Wrocław. Planned to be implemented: 1. Construction of a road for bicycles in ul. Dry by 2. Construction of a road for bicycles in ul. National, Rychtal and Poniatowski Unity; 3. Reconstruction of the road for bicycles in ul. Legnicka from ul. Rybacka to pl. John Paul II; 4. Reconstruction of the road in ul. Hubska in order to separate the road for bicycles; 5. Reconstruction of the road in ul. Forensic for the purpose of separating the road for bicycles; 6. Reconstruction of the road in ul. Racławicka in order to separate the road for bicycles; 7. Construction of a road for bicycles in al. the Home Army; 8. Reconstruction of the road in ul. Dubois to separate the road for bicycles; 9. Construction of a road for bicycles in ul. Mokronoska; 10. Reconstruction of the road in ul. Żmigrodzka in order to separate the road for bicycles; 11. Construction of a pedestrian-cycling line in ul. It's Zabrodzka. SCOPE AND GENERAL ASSIGNMENTS OF THE PROJECT The material scope of the project includes the following activities: a. creating a coherent network of cycling and walking-cycling routes accessible to all users, including the construction of missing cycling links between settlements and neighbouring WrOF municipalities (for cycling roads in the streets: Mokronoska, Zabrodzka); b. modernization/reconstruction of sections of existing cycling routes (applies to cycling roads in streets: Home Army, National Unity, Legnica); c. construction of missing bicycle connections with existing main routes in the city center on the east-west and north-south axis, among others using solutions consistent with the requirements of the Monument Conservator (applies to bicycle roads in the following streets: Sucha, Hubska, Sądowa, Dubois, Racławicka, Żmigrodzka). The above will allow to integrate cycling with public transport, including tram. Investments will be carried out mainly in the belt of existing roads. The basic criteria for the selection of tasks to be carried out were to ensure the coherence of the cycle path system in order to create an alternative to individual transport, especially over distances of up to 10 km, to connect important sources and destinations for cycling and to link the cycle path system with city functions and user needs. Wrocławskie Inwestycje Sp. z o.o. is the entity responsible for the preparation and implementation of the Project in the material scope on behalf and for the benefit of the Municipality of Wrocław, which acts as the organizational resource of the Municipality of Wrocław. The investments planned for implementation have the necessary construction decisions and design documentation. The project is technically and technologically feasible – solutions have been adopted that will guarantee high quality, durability and functionality, while saving costs at the investment stage and subsequent operation. The applied technology of work ensures the implementation of the investment on the planned date. The main objective of the project is to reduce low transport emissions and improve the transport mobility of residents as part of a comprehensive strategy for the promotion and development of cycling in Wrocław and the WrOF ITI area. The implementation of the project is dictated by the needs reported by the public, including: - the need to connect missing sections of bicycle routes, including inter-urban and neighbouring municipalities, - meeting the requirement of accessibility for all users, e.g. by using an appropriate, rigid surface, due to the poor technical condition of parts of existing bicycle routes.
