Revitalization of railway line No. 303 Duninów - Chocianów

The railway line No. 303 between Dunin and Chocian from km 6,900 to km 10,970 was a single-track, non-electrified line, built in 1890, the line for rail traffic was closed in 2005. The need for its revitalization results from the assumptions adopted in the strategic documents of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, i.e. the Strategy for the Development of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship 2030 and the Transport Infrastructure Development Plan in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship with a perspective until 2030. The revitalisation of the decapitated and incomplete section between Duninów and Chocianów will improve the transport cohesion of the region, and in particular the transport service of Legnicko – Głogów Functional Area. The implementation of the project is planned in two stages. As part of the first, modernization works were carried out, including the design and execution of measurement works, dismantling of the track, removal of ballast, cutting of the track bench, renovation of the drainage system, laying the track on concrete sleepers and modernization of engineering facilities. As part of the second stage of implementation, the design and installation of automatic crossing signalling devices is planned. The works carried out are to ensure an increase in the capacity of the railway line resulting from technical conditions, the speed of the passage will be increased to the maximum design speed resulting from the geometry of the railway line, thereby improving the punctuality parameters.
