Rehabilitation of post-mining areas located in Wałbrzych at ul. L. Beethoven by giving them new social and economic functions and restoring biodiversity

The main objective of the project is the rehabilitation and development of post-mining areas located in Wałbrzych at ul. L. Beethoven by giving them new economic and social functions (caring, educational, environmental-natural, integrative-activating) and restoring biodiversity. The material scope of the project includes: a) the construction of a municipal animal shelter with land development (including the purchase of the necessary equipment) for the budget unit of the Applicant - Animal Shelters ("SdZ"), b) the construction of a storage and transport base (including the purchase of the necessary equipment) together with land development and the construction of a sewage pumping station with a compressor pipeline for the benefit of the applicant company - Miejski Zakład Usług Komunalne sp. z o.o. ("MZUK"), For the purposes of the above-mentioned facilities, the renovation of selected sections of the sanitary network along ul. by L. Beethoven. As part of the project, activities related to the restoration of biodiversity are also planned. New green areas with numerous new plantings of vegetation will be created (in the case of the base, rain gardens and a green wall will also be established). In addition, complementary activities will be carried out related to the use of RES (heat pumps and photovoltaic micro-installations for the needs of the above-mentioned facilities) and road infrastructure (renovation / reconstruction of ul. Beethoven on the section from ul. Sikorski to the planned base, parking with access road and road exits for the needs of the shelter, internal road system, manoeuvring yards, parking and rebuilt road exit for the needs of the base), which will improve accessibility to and in the above-mentioned areas with assigned new functions. The new and upgraded infrastructure under the project will be adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities. The main socio-economic benefits of the project are: - improving the state of the natural environment in post-mining areas, which will translate into an improvement in the health of the local community, - better quality infrastructure used by the applicant's/implementer's organisational units to carry out the municipality's own tasks, which will enable the quality of services provided to the residents of the city of Wałbrzych to be improved, - improving the state of public road infrastructure, which will translate into better mobility comfort and increased safety of the residents of the city of Wałbrzych. The above actions and their effects are consistent with the objectives of the FEDS 2021-2027, in particular the objective FST.CP6.I, as they will contribute to mitigating the social, employment, economic and environmental impacts of the transition towards a climate-neutral EU economy, and with the environmental objective of the TPST, as they provide a coherent, transport-integrated, attractive, high-quality space for residents while respecting environmental resources. The applicant and beneficiary of the project is the Wałbrzych Municipality, a city with county rights, which will directly implement investments in animal shelters, a storage and transport base and the renovation/reconstruction of ul. by L. Beethoven. On the other hand, the contractor for the renovation of sections of the sanitary sewerage network along the above-mentioned street - the Wałbrzych Water Supply and Sewerage Association (‘WZWiK’). Infrastructure operators will be: Municipality of Wałbrzych - a city with county rights (Bureau of Road Investments and Road Management of the Municipal Office in Wałbrzych) - ul. L. Beethoven, SdZ - animal shelter, MZUK - storage and transport base, Wałbrzych Water and Sewerage Company sp. z o.o. (‘WPWiK’) . There are no partners in the project. The beneficiary will carry out information and promotion activities of the project in accordance with the FEDS guidelines 2021-2027 in the form of information boards at the project implementation sites, information about the project on the applicant's website, marking of project documents and the information event referred to in Article 50 para. 1 (e) of the General Regulation (project value > EUR 10 million).
