According to GUS BDL data, in 2022, about 213.1 kg of garbage is produced annually in Poland per person. Most of the rubbish goes to landfills and some goes to recycling. This is highly detrimental to the environment through carbon dioxide entering the atmosphere, causing a greenhouse effect. Environmental education starts at school. Children learn what color to put the waste in, unfortunately, despite many campaigns aimed at adults, some of the waste remains mixed. Educational campaigns on waste segregation were conducted by the Ministry of the Environment, municipalities and municipal plants. Despite numerous educational campaigns, a lot of waste remains mixed. Over the years 2018-2022, the amount (both total, total per capita and from households) of mixed waste collected during the year has steadily increased in the Janikowo Commune. For example, in 2022 the total quantity was 3 408.74 tonnes, of which as many as 2 794.48 tonnes (81.97%) come from households. In 2022, one inhabitant of the Commune generated 271.6 kg of waste per year (i.e. more than the previously reported national average). Over the years 2018-2022, the amount of waste collected separately during the year has steadily increased in the Janikowo Commune (both in total and from households). For example, in 2022 the total quantity was 871.08 tonnes, of which 852.82 tonnes (97.90%) come from households. In the Janikowo Commune there is a Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point (PSZOK), which accepts separated municipal waste and other waste for re-use. Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point, located at ul. Kasprowicza 57 is open from Monday to Friday in hours. 10:00 – 16:00 and Saturdays: 8:00 – 12:00. As part of the PSZOK, there is also a Green Waste Receiving Point at ul. B. Prusa, which is open from Monday to Friday in hours. 8:00 - 14:00, and on Saturdays in hours. 8:00 – 12:00. Receipt of waste is carried out by an authorized employee of the point. Acceptance shall take place after verification of the content of the waste delivered. Waste delivered by residents is accepted by PSZOK free of charge. Users of PSZOK are obliged to strictly follow the regulations and instructions of the employee of the point. Waste delivered to PSZOK must be segregated. The waste must not be mixed and contaminated with other waste. The main problem of the project is the infrastructure of the current Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point, which is insufficient in relation to the needs. The main aim of the project is to increase the possibility of using the Selective Municipal Waste Collection Point. This project concerns the development of the Selective Municipal Waste Collection System for the Municipality of Janikowo. The scope includes the following tasks (details in the "Tasks" section of WoD): 1/ Development of the Investment Plan 2/ Separate collection points for municipal waste 3/ Purchase of a car scale 4/ Hardening of the terrain 5/ Educational - Information Boards For these tasks, the applicant has a building permit and a notification. PSZOK serves only the municipality of Janikowo, which has less than 20 thousand inhabitants. Products: L. supported separate collection points for municipal waste (PSZOK) - 1 pcs. Results: Waste collected separately - 303 tonnes/year. As part of the promotion of the project, it is planned to: • put 1 information and memorial board • put a description of the project on the website of the Municipality and Facebook, • mark the EU mark, the European Funds mark, the coat of arms of the voivodeship or its official promotional logo with all information and promotion activities related to the project. Promotional activities will be carried out at no cost. Compliance with the principles of equal opportunities and non-discrimination and equality between women and men is described in detail in Chapter 1.11. Investment Plan (due to the limited number of characters in this section of the WOD).
