Efficient district heating networks. Modernization of the heat pipeline in the Janikowo Commune, stage I

The distribution of heat to final customers is carried out by the infrastructure of Przedsiębiorstwo Gospodarki Komunalna i Mieszkaniowa Sp. z o.o. The district heating network provides heat to public utility buildings, multi-family housing and business activities. The heating medium in the form of water is characterized by parameters in the heating season at the level of 130/90oC, while in summer periods 90/70oC. It is worth emphasizing that the analyzed network was made in the outdated technology of shell channels, which generates significant energy losses of the installation. The network has 6 group heat exchangers and 18 individual heat exchangers. Due to the fact that in the municipality, in addition to the district heating network, heating systems are largely based on domestic coal-fired boiler plants, measures are necessary to reduce heat losses, modernise and expand the heating system in Janikowo. Rising costs of thermal energy justify investments in heat saving, the expansion of the network will improve the state of the environment by reducing emissions from domestic boiler rooms. In view of the above, observing the unfavourable trend of decreasing length of the heat network, the implementation of this project is necessary. The project will contribute positively, among others, to the protection of water resources (water in the district heating system circulates in a closed circuit), the district heating network will be effective, therefore it is expected that greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere should be reduced. In addition, investments in modernising district heating plants, improving the efficiency of district heating networks and connecting individual customers to them will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These measures will improve the environment (mainly due to the reduction of pollution) and public health. The main problem is the unsatisfactory condition of heating infrastructure in the Janikowo Commune. The main goal is to improve the condition of heating infrastructure in the Janikowo Commune. This project concerns the construction and modernisation of a district heating network in the Municipality of Janikowo on three sections: Section I – As part of the investment, a high-parameter (130/900C) pre-insulated district heating network with connections is being designed, which will supply heat for the purposes of heating and domestic hot water preparation to existing service and industrial facilities located at ul. Industrial 30-33 in Janikowo. Section II – As part of the investment, a high-parameter (130/900C) pre-insulated district heating network with connections is being designed, which will supply heat for the purposes of heating and domestic hot water preparation to existing residential and service facilities located at ul. Total 5-22 and Przyjezierna 3-8 in Janikowo. Section III – Heating connection to the building of the Sailing and Water Sports Centre at ul. Headquarters in Janikowo. The applicant for this project has a building permit and notifications of construction works. Planned information and promotion activities: • 3 information and memorial boards at the project site, • description of the project on the Municipality’s and Facebook’s website, • signs/logs, • oral transmission. Products: Length of modernised district heating networks: 2,5743 km L. of retrofitted heat generators (other than individual): 6 pcs. Population covered by Integrated Territorial Development Strategy projects: 80 pers. Integrated territorial development strategies supported: 1 pc(s) L. Facilities adapted to the needs of persons with disabilities (ERDF/CF/JTF): 1 pc(s) Results: L. Additional users connected to the district heating network: 80 pers. Estimated greenhouse gas emissions: 180 tonnes of CO2 equivalent: 180 tonnes CO2/year The project complies with the principle of equal opportunities and non-discrimination and the principle of equality between women and men as described in chapter 1.11 of the PI.
