Stop the Barierom! Equal in Work"

Unequal treatment known as discrimination is widely known among the public. Reasons for discrimination include age, gender, disability, origin, as well as sexual orientation. It is important to note that discrimination is prohibited by law. Equality before the law is guaranteed by the Constitution, which is the most important legal act of the Republic of Poland, according to Article 32. no one may be discriminated against - whether in political, social or economic life. In the context of the labour market, it is forbidden to discriminate against people applying for employment, as well as those who work. Therefore, the PLO in Zgierz plans to implement a project whose specific objective is to support active social inclusion in order to promote equal opportunities, non-discrimination and active participation and to increase employability, in particular of disadvantaged groups. The project falls within the scope of the above-mentioned intervention, as its implementation will contribute, among others, to support the employment of young people and to the return to the labour market of disadvantaged people. The project will consist of two main tasks. The first one will be addressed to the target group and will be based on the implementation of trainings and workshops in the field of non-discrimination and diversity management, in which 48 (K:46,M:2) employees of the PLO in Zgierz will be trained in the above-mentioned field. Employees of the PLO in Zgierz face discrimination on the labour market on a daily basis. On the one hand, information about it reaches them directly from the unemployed, because they are the ones experiencing the problem of discrimination. On the other hand, they have to face employers who are afraid to hire people who are discriminated against. Age, gender, health status, or the fact of having children often discriminates in applying for a job. As at the end of September 2024, there were 3501 persons (1710K) in the register of unemployed persons, including 709 persons (362K) up to 30 years of age, 1044 persons (393K) over 50 years of age, 269 persons (101K) with disabilities and 513 persons (413K) with at least 1 child up to 6 years of age. The unemployed are often frustrated, inactive and lose hope of finding employment. These people need professional support from the office, whose role is invaluable at this very moment. Employees must support such people and motivate them to act. It is necessary to encourage local employers to hire and show the benefits of employing such people. The implementation of training will contribute to the satisfaction of unemployed people with the quality of service and will set new tracks and tasks for employees so as to better support people discriminated against. Employers, on the other hand, will be informed about the benefits of employment of people discriminated against. The second task will be a social campaign and actions for equal treatment. As part of this task, webinars will be organized with employers, unemployed people, which will be tasked with showing the benefits of hiring discriminated people. Legal as well as psychological issues will be discussed here. We plan to prepare an advertising spot, which will be broadcast, among others, on local television. The spot is also supposed to influence local society and show that this problem is common and affects each of us. Training and workshops and a conference are planned. In the project, the PLO in Zgierz will take measures to promote equal opportunities K and M by taking particular care to ensure that employees have the appropriate knowledge to carry out their tasks taking into account the principle of gender equality. Promoting the idea of gender equality among PLO employees in Zgierz, employers or other labour market partners will be done by: providing information materials disseminating the principle of gender equality, using equal language, using female forms, as well as avoiding stereotypes.
